The day before Labor Day weekend in 2009, my brother in CO called me to help him find a lawyer, he had been arrested and charged with a felony for stalking. He was scared and frustrated with the false charges against him. Imagine trying to find a lawyer in CO, the day before a holiday weekend, and doing this remotely (I live in VA). I did the first thing I could think of - Googled criminal defense attorneys in the area. I had never hired a defense attorney before, so this was a new process for my brother and me. After sorting through a number of profiles and thinking about what qualities would be important in an attorney to represent my brother, I came up with the following criteria: 1. 24 hour service availability (since it was Labor Day weekend, I needed someone available immediately), 2. Seasoned experience with defense cases of this type, 3. Private practice attorney - I wanted to choose the attorney I selected, not have a firm partner choose my attorney for me, 4. Patience - as this whole legal process would be a new experience for my brother and me, I felt this criteria was very important.

Last summer I was wrongfully accused of a crime. Having a completely clean record and never having to deal with police before, I was lost. The police were calling me nonstop and threatening to issue a felony warrant for my arrest. I searched for attorneys in the county where the incident occurred and I found David Owen.
